To address the growing international focus on biodiversity, the “Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA),” known as the “Oscars of Corporate Sustainability in Taiwan,” added the “Taiwan Biodiversity Award” for the first time this year. LEOTEK was the sole recipient of the inaugural “Taiwan Biodiversity Award” Innovation Prize in the for-profit enterprise category. This award follows the recent announcement of LEOTEK’s collaboration with the Forestry Bureau on the National Ecological Green Network project, further recognizing the company’s long-term commitment to creating sustainable urban and rural environments through core technological innovations.
LEOTEK operates in over 30 countries, focusing on urban infrastructure. In recent years, the company has been dedicated to promoting intelligent, sustainable, and low-carbon strategies. LEOTEK’s “Full-Ecological Lighting Technology,” developed specifically for biodiversity, is the first lighting technology designed from the perspective of biological vision. Recognizing the crucial relationship between outdoor lighting and biological activity and ecological balance, LEOTEK began independently developing eco-friendly lighting three years ago. Partnering with experts and scholars, LEOTEK created the “Full-Ecological Intelligent Lighting System” using various color temperatures and spectral designs to offer the best-customized outdoor lighting solutions for local species and road environments, balancing development and conservation.
The award-winning “Full-Ecological Lighting Technology” had already garnered significant attention in the U.S. market last year, winning the prestigious “Edison Award.” The technology’s unique spectral lamps have also been certified for wildlife lighting in Florida, applicable in sea turtle conservation projects. The addition of the “Taiwan Biodiversity Award” highlights the critical impact of lighting on species conservation, underscoring its significance in global sustainability discussions.
The inaugural “Taiwan Biodiversity Award” ceremony was held on International Day for Biological Diversity. LEOTEK shared its achievements in biodiversity, such as reducing the impact of urban lighting on phototactic insects and alleviating long-term disturbances for nearby residents, thereby enhancing the quality of life and maintaining ecological balance. In the second half of this year, LEOTEK’s optical R&D team will collaborate with the Forestry Bureau, various government agencies, and experts to launch the “Illuminate Taiwan: Friendly Light Environment Plan.” This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability through cross-domain links, building inclusive, safe, and resilient sustainable urban and rural areas.
